sound_of_transition_passage_X is a participation in the collaborative project Extra-Terrestrial Ethnographies of the Future-Present, a workshop that resulted in a multimedia fanzine in printed and electronic form. The participants were asked to embark on a “tracking mission” to 6000 A.C. Earth, abandoned and empty since 2025 A.C., and collect remaining fragments of civilization and other findings.
For the purposes of the project our tracking team, Liminalia,* started with the premise that all animate beings on earth had perhaps transitioned or dematerialized and reformed into an animate, audible wave covering the planet’s atmosphere. Our team co-produced a text, and each member, a series of digital media such as photographs, videos, graphics, etc.
*Liminalia members: Irini Kalaitzidi, Antigoni Michalakopoulou, Natalia Papadopoulou, Olga Roussou, Elektra Stampoulou
Organized by The Stavros Niarchos Foundation Public Humanities Initiative, in collaboration with the University of Thessaly research project Greek Future Archive of Socialities Under Quarantine, the Anthrobombing platform, and The Athens Zine Bibliotheque.
