Going a Traveling is the first completed research-based work which I exhibited as a degree thesis. It mainly consisted of a suspended room in which the participants could climb and remain indefinitely. The room was completely dark on the inside, lined with grass on its six sides and sprayed with forest tree perfume, having a feeling of a pleasant yet claustrophobic suspended nest.
The main purpose was to re-enact the very common in traditional and contemporary narratives journey of the main hero having to complete one or more difficult tasks in order to gain something highly valued by the community. The suspended room was hard to climb, something which encouraged collaboration between the participants who (whether they reached the room or not) re-created narratives related to it. The latter were recorded and formed a booklet after the end of the exhibition. The installation was accompanied by a photo book and eight photographs with versions of recurring archetypal figures from western fairy tale narratives.
